Duplex stainless steel 2205 pipe is a type of stainless steel alloy that is composed of two different phases. Duplex Stainless Steel 2205 Pipe contains both austenite and ferrite microstructures, which makes it stronger and more corrosion resistant than traditional stainless steel. This material is commonly used in petrochemical and oil & gas industries for its superior strength, corrosion-resistance, and durability.
The UNS S32205 designation refers to a duplex stainless steel with a composition of 22% chromium, 5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and 0.15% nitrogen. This combination results in a material that has high strength, good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, excellent weldability, and high corrosion resistance in both chloride-containing environments as well as acidic environments. The most common applications for UNS S32205 Pipe include chemical processing equipment (such as tanks or vessels), piping systems for oil & gas production facilities, seawater cooling systems, offshore platforms, heat exchangers and pressure vessels. Duplex S31803 Chemical Composition is slightly different from the UNS S32205 designation; S31803 Pipe contains 23% chromium, 4.5% nickel, 2.5% molybdenum, 0.3% copper and 0.2% nitrogen. It provides similar properties but with slightly improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) compared to UNS S32205 due to the increased levels of chromium content present in the alloy. The most common application for this grade of duplex stainless steel is for use in heat exchangers or pressure vessels where superior mechanical properties are required over those provided by conventional austenitic grades such as 304L or 316L alloys. Duplex UNS S31803 Chemical Composition
Duplex s31803 steel is an alloy composed of chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo), nitrogen (N), and manganese (Mn). It also contains between 10% to 30% ferrite content, depending on the grade. In addition to these elements, this type of steel also contains trace amounts of other elements such as phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, titanium, aluminum and cobalt. The combination of these metals creates an alloy that is highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion while remaining strong enough to handle high pressure applications.
