What is Stainless Steel 321 Round Bar?
A member of the austenitic class 300 series, grade 321 stainless steel. The JIS SUS 321 black bar possesses a variety of mechanical and corrosion resistance properties, just like the majority of 300 series stainless steel alloys. The only difference between this alloy and grade 304 is that Stainless Steel 321 Round Bars has titanium in it, which stabilizes the alloy’s chemistry. Any alloy that needs to be subjected to welding operations benefits from having titanium added to it.
Titanium stabilized austenitic stainless steel with enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion is 321 SS (UNS S32100). This grade is appropriate for high-temperature applications up to 1500°F (815°C), where the titanium addition stabilizes the material against the development of chromium carbide.
Titanium creates rather stable titanium carbides during welding as opposed to carbide precipitation, which is less stable. Therefore, alloy 321 Stainless Steel Rods have better resistance to intergranular corrosion and their grain boundary does not get sensitized. When exposed to extremely high temperatures, the titanium addition also enhances the ASTM a276 type 321 flat bar’s mechanical characteristics. The alloy maintains its same yield strength and impact resistance. The fact that they both operate well even in cryogenic settings is another thing in common with grade 304 and the ASTM A479 UNS S32100 hex bar.
Applications of Stainless Steel 321 Round Bars
Cryogenic applications require alloys to have strong impact strength and mechanical qualities. By alloying metals like chromium and nickel with lower amounts of manganese and titanium, DIN 1.4541 square bar meets these requirements.
