Stainless Steel Grade 309S is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy. At high temperatures, the Stainless Steel 309 Tube have excellent oxidation resistance as well as high tensile and creep strength. SS 309S Welded Tubes are more resistant to the marine environment. It is known explicitly as heat resistance alloy. Stainless Steel 309S Welded Tubes has a lower carbon percentage compared to grade 309 that provides excellent formability and weldability. These Stainless Steel 309S Welded Tubes have versatile features like tensile strength, good workability, formability, weldability, etc.
Stainless Steel 309 Welded Tubes can be welded using fusion or resistance welding methods. Stainless Steel 309 Welded Tubes does not react to heat treatment. Thus, Strength and hardness of this Stainless steel 309S Welded Tubes can be increased by cold working. The only major difference between Stainless Steel 309 Welded Tubes and Stainless Steel 309S Welded Tubes is the carbon content. Stainless Steel 309S Welded Tubes have a very much less carbon components which decreases carbide precipitation and also enhances weldability.
When compared to Stainless Steel 304 Tubes, which are commonly used for higher temperature services, 309 Stainless Steel Welded Tubes or UNS S30900 tubes have higher corrosion resistance and strength. These 309 austenitic stainless steel grades are the most versatile and widely used stainless steels, offering corrosion resistance, superior oxidation resistance, and retention.
Handrails, legs for office, kitchen, and hospital equipment, and architectural supports are all made from welded 309 stainless tubes.
