N06022 is the UNS designation for Hastelloy C-22. The alloy’s main constituent is nickel, which accounts for approximately 56% of its total weight. Chromium and molybdenum are added at 22% and 13%, respectively, to the Hastelloy C22 Seamless Pipe alloy. This alloy has excellent oxidation resistance and the Hastelloy C22 Seamless Pipes are particularly resistant to aggressive aqueous media containing chemicals such as wet chlorine, as well as solutions containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids containing chlorine ions. It is recommended to use this alloy when super austenitic or Duplex Stainless Steel Pipes are overpowered in the presence of extremely aggressive media. Another important addition to the chemical structure of the ASTM B622 Hastelloy C22 Seamless Pipe is tungsten, which provides the alloy with greater resistance to uniformity when compared to other alloys such as alloy 625 or alloy C276. Tungsten also makes Hastelloy C22 Welded Pipes more resistant to localized corrosion.
Chemical processing industries often have upset conditions, necessitating the use of a long-lasting material, such as Hastelloy C22 Seamless Pipes, to make their piping system. In general, both oxidizing and reducing conditions are very likely in this industry. As a result, the phrase “upset condition” came into use. The C22 Hastelloy EFW Pipe is resistant to decay from a variety of acidic solutions, including formic and acetic acids. Despite having a nickel base, the use of Alloy C22 Round Pipe is limited to 1250° F. At temperatures as high as 1250° F, the alloy is very likely to form harmful phases, which could ultimately decay the C22 Alloy EFW Pipe.
